The Buck Inn is a friendly and welcoming village pub located at the heart of the quaint village of Maunby, North Yorkshire. We pride ourselves on our home made modern pub food coupled with an ever changing specials board. Relax and unwind with our fine wines and local cask ales and you have the perfect recipe for a great meal with family and friends.
Character? We’ve got the lot, log burners, open fires and beams along with a nice bit of quirk. It could be said that this is the perfect Sunday Lunch pub. The history of The Buck Inn as a public house is documented in the 1841 census, although there is also some evidence suggesting it was going strong in 1791. You will notice evidence of our proud past scattered about the walls when you visit us. Sure, there’s been some changes over the years but you can always bank on a warm Yorkshire welcome with a good dollop of Buck Inn heritage.
The walls may run deep with history but the food however is certainly up to date. Head chef Will Vernon brings his expertise to the kitchen delivering an eclectic menu. We like to keep our supplier’s local and our cooking fresh, simple as that. We choose the finest cuts from our butcher giving you a great choice in steaks and some amazing burgers. If you haven’t had a Buck Inn Burger yet, then you haven’t truly experienced Yorkshire. Have a look at our sample menus to see the choices on offer – this is enhanced with a number of seasonal specials that are displayed on blackboards in the bar.
We host the village Quiots club, community quizzes, and open mic nights and that’s just for starters! We’re dog friendly and love cyclists, alternatively just relax over a bite, a pint by the fire, or a piping hot brew. Do check out our events page to see just some of the upcoming events we have planned.
So, come and join us for a drink or a meal, you deserve it, we’d love to see you. Wet your whistle with local ales, quaffable wines and freshly ground coffee. Get yourself comfy in a chair by the open fire or a picnic table in the garden. Whatever the season, whatever the weather, enjoy yourself and relax.
We look forward to seeing you soon

After a great weekend camping we were met by the staff of The Buck Inn who couldn't be more welcoming. We were a large group including kids and the service was great, we were all served with our food at the same time and the food was lovely and very well priced.
Superb Food, very friendly staff, reasonable price (considering the quality of the food!). Highly Recommended!
Good food & friendly service. Very accommodating for vegans, thank you
We have visited The Buck Inn on many occasions over the last 4 years and it has always been good. However, the last year or so the food, service and ambiance has been superb, I had the scallops tonight which were cooked perfectly, and my wife and friends steak pie was equally excellent. I look forward to our next visit.

Cosy pub. Roaring fire and friendly staff. Nice varied menu. Theakstons and one guest beer.
Not a bad little pub, nice staff, reasonable food. Maybe a little overpriced
Excellent service. Helpful with dietary requirements.
Lovely restaurant with great service, popped in here for lunch on a Wednesday with a family group. Kedgeree was amazing
Excellent family meal, great service, excellent theakstons best bitter, why can't all pubs keep it like this
Delicious Sunday dinner, excellent value for money too. The children’s meal I ordered for my son was the tastiest risotto I’ve ever had. Refreshing to see varied options on a children’s menu too. Highly recommend.
Great old building in a lovely location. Welcoming staff. Good beer.
Great country pub and restaurant. Good choice and very good value. Open fires and friendly helpful service.
Lovely, well-run village pub. Went for lunch - menu was varied and food tasted great with fresh ingredients. Try the kedgeree! Nice pint of Theakstons too.
Chose The Buck Inn to celebrate a 100th birthday with 40 plus guests. Robyn and her staff were absolutely amazing and nothing was too much for them. The private function rooms and conservatory looked absolutely beautiful and they were more than happy for us to add our own decorations. The food was lovely and fresh and the service was fantastic and we didn't feel rushed at all. Would definitely recommend for a private function or just a lovely meal in comfortable surroundings. Thank you guys, you did a wonderful job.
3rd time at The Buck Inn. Never disapointed. Food great, staff efficient and friendly. Will go again soon.
Set menu roasts at weekend great value and great quality next to stunning village
Fantastic pub and fantastic food!!! The starter sharing platter was amazing!! As were the mains! Delicious food, good portion size which matched the price. Really enjoyed it, would definitely recommend!
Excellent Sunday Lunch. Good food friendly service.
The food is superb whenever we've visited however when we decided to try on a Bank Holiday after visiting Thirsk (and due to the lack of restaurants in Thirsk) we were told that they'd stopped serving food at 5 (we arrived at 5:05) and the pub was going to close as soon as it got quiet. At least two other couples turned up after us asking if they were serving food only to be turned away and anyone turning up later that evening for a drink may have been met by an empty pub. We ending up elsewhere (who were also usually closed on a Monday but served food until 8:30pm on a Bank Holiday). Great food but don't trust the opening hours and call first.
Excellent food, good drink selection and friendly staff.
A lovely pub and beer garden in a tranquil village location. Very friendly and accommodating staff, the meal we had was very nice. Will be visiting again and would highly recommend.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Beautifully cooked meat and outstanding vegetables
